The Michael’s Story

Michael’s Office headquartered in Redding California has been in business since 1994, serving customers with quality products and services throughout the Northstate.  As a privately held company Michael’s represents several manufacturers with our newest relationship and product alignment being with Haworth, an internationally based manufacturer headquartered in Holland, Michigan.

With Haworth we’ve expanded our service area from the 11 most Northern California Counties to the 17 most Northern Counties. We are grateful for the confidence and trust Haworth has shown in allowing us to represent them in such a large geographical area. Haworth recognized our ability to take care of not only the large projects, but also the smaller day-to-day needs so many of our customers have come to expect, and we’ve been proud to offer. The alignment with Haworth was also based on our desired goal for change, a change to a relationship with a family-owned business who values service to the customer above all other goals or measurements. 

It should also be noted since 1948 Haworth was founded on a history of craft and innovation, with 400 patents, and inspiring spaces around the world that lead the industry in function and design. It was Haworth who had the vision, creativity, and intellect to use the core of panels as the “conduit” for running power, data, and phone cabling throughout panel-based workstations. As some would say, simple yet genius.

Bob Paget, Workplace Consultant

Workplace Consultant

After serving as CFO for two separate privately held companies in Redding that went public it was time to move or change paths. After growing up and raising a family in Northern California, moving was the last thing Bob had in mind. Having bought product from Michael’s and learning the business was for sale, the decision was made to turn a hobby (woodworking) into a new career. Bob enjoyed woodshop all through high school. After graduating from Chico state University and moving to Redding he continued this hobby taking night classes at Shasta College, building furniture for family and friends. The timing in 2006 for the change was not the best timing, but Bob was able to navigate the challenging times for so many, and continue with the good works of Michaels. Working with his head and hands, designing products, building useful pieces of furniture and working with people has always been a driving force in doing something that brings personal satisfaction and enjoyment. From a single chair or desk project to large scale new construction projects Bob’s goal is to serve and deliver products to meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.


James English, Workplace Consultant

JAMES ENGLISH

Workplace Consultant

James has enjoyed serving customers most of his working life, from a UPS Driver to a Computer Technician, and several other gigs along the way. He owned his own service business in Medford, Oregon for 10 years before moving to Redding in 2013. He takes pride in delighting his customers with extraordinary service, so when the opportunity to serve the Redding community as a Workplace Consultant at Michael’s arose in early 2019, it was clearly a perfect fit.

James grew up in the Bay Area, and went to school in Portland in 1978, where he met the love of his life. They were married several years later, and recently celebrated their 39th anniversary. He enjoys being a father of four and a grandfather of three. His hobbies include gardening, kayaking, hiking, and US History. James is a lifelong learner, and he is currently working toward certification as a Chair Assessment Specialist after obtaining his certification in the use of CET Design Software. While he aspires to become a top-notch Workplace Design Consultant and Ergonomic Consultant, his greatest ambition is to be a man after God’s heart in all he does.


Paul Bryant, Installer

Service & Installation

Since August 2005 Paul cut his teeth on the installation side of the business in the Bay Area where he worked for a firm dedicated to just installation services. He remembers those projects in San Francisco having to work nights to get the product off the truck and into the building up how ever many floors to the end destination and then the installation followed. If Paul cannot perform an element of an installation it likely can’t be done. Paul is customer satisfaction focused and his saying is let’s go spread some awesome! It’s also a little funny how so many customers want to help Paul but truth be known just step back and go relax somewhere while Paul works his magic

Like father like son is Joe following in the competent footsteps of his father Paul. Many hands make for light work, but Joe is more than just a set of additional hands as he is already demonstrating product knowledge and independent work beyond other installers many years his senior.

Bob the Installer. Changing hats because that’s what it takes when running a small business, and he enjoys the work! Bob values the time in the field, helping the install team, feeling some of their challenges, and working together to deliver the best solution. As Bob says, it is the very essence of what we work toward, the end result, the value for what the customer has paid us to provide, and he wants to do everything possible to deliver 100% customer satisfaction.


Judy Marcum, Office Manager

Office Manager

Judy has been with Michael’s for 20 years since March 1999  and is in charge of all vendor payments, invoicing, and payment processing. Judy grew up in Arcata and Moved to Redding with her husband Jim back in 1976. After moving to Redding Judy spent 19 years working for the commercial builder WM D Johnson Co a general contractor. Needless to say, Judy is a valuable asset with a wealth of knowledge. She tried retiring from our company, but missed us so much she thankfully came back.


Holly Paget, Treasurer

HOLLY PAGET

Treasurer/CFO

Holly Paget, CPA, CFO, has over 30 years experience working with clients and non-profits and is great at multitasking numerous jobs at a time. She is currently the CFO of a small nonprofit organization in Redding and has worked for Citizens Utilities, Shasta Family YMCA, and served in consulting roles with Turtle Bay Exploration Park and Haven Humane Society. She oversees all accounting functions and is responsible for government compliance on tax reporting. For fun, she loves to hang out with her husband and family, play tennis or golf, attend fitness classes and read.
